New Volcano Erupts on Iceland – Grimsvötn

Media reports tell us there is a new Volcano Eruption on Iceland right now, by the Volcano Grimsvötn. As it is now there’s no real danger for the flight traffic, but experts say there might be a change in the circumstances. As we saw last year a volcano can have a huge effect on the transport system of Europe, and therefor this site was started. We are now ready to open it up if there will be need for it. If flights get’s cancelled we will re-open the services of Volcanohelp.eu. In the meantime you can check this latest picture of where the ashcloud is. If you want to see the updates, they are released 4 times per day on Met Office (external website)

The airports are now starting to open, and Europe is slowly starting to be able to travel in the air again.

Still there are huge numbers wanting to fly, but not as huge capacity as is needed!

We have helped a lot of people to make their way home the last 24 hours. However media states that this crisis will go on at least until thursday. Since we don’t think anyone should be stranded for days in an airport we open Volcano Housing – a part of Volcano Help. Go to Volcano Housing and offer someone a house for some days. Let’s solve this crisis together!

DH.se writes about Volcano Help and sends about 500 visitors per hour to the site. It is really starting to work now and people who offers to drive gets overwhelmed by all the requests they recieve.

12:05 The guardian writes about Volcanohelp.eu in their updates about the Volcano Crisis. Since Volcano Help started 18 April it has had 10 000 visitors and right now the Volcano Ride Forum is starting to be updated by travellers who are stranded and need to get home.
